“Music that matters”
Hilary writes vocal-led story-songs sung by Lucy Pickering as well as exciting jazz-influenced instrumentals. She explores themes of new beginnings, mindfulness, change, celebration and loss. Her music has one foot in the late 60s-early 70s and one foot firmly in the present day.
Songs on the album range from the funky, upbeat Mojo, to the re-imagined and jazz reharmonised Eleanor Rigby and Big Yellow Taxi; from the soulful anthem on mindfulness, Just Breathe, to the Celtic sound of Grass Is Always Greener; Ingrid's Song is wonderfully lyrical and gentle while the dynamic instrumentals Sarah's Hour and Together burst through like sparkling spritzers on a hot summer's day. Lots of variety but all containing Hilary Burt's hallmark sound.
